About the Role

KMC Recruitment is representing a leading independent tool and lifting equipment hire group with multiple depots across London, the South East, and the South West. With a strong reputation for technical knowledge and customer service, this business operates several specialist lifting depots and provides inspection, repair, and certification services for both their own fleet and customers’ lifting equipment.

Due to continued growth, they’re seeking an experienced Area Lifting Engineer to join their London & South East team.

The Role

Reporting into the company’s Lifting Engineer, you’ll form part of a close-knit regional team (four engineers across the South East, including two mobile and two depot-based). You’ll carry out maintenance, repairs, and statutory inspections on a wide range of lifting equipment - both in-depot and on customer sites.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conduct maintenance and repairs on the company’s full range of lifting equipment.

  • Perform 6-monthly LOLER inspections and certifications.

  • Carry out inspections and testing on customers’ sites and at depots.

  • Accurately complete and upload inspection reports using the company’s digital systems.

  • Ensure professional conduct and excellent customer service on all site visits.

  • Report damages, defects, or safety issues promptly to the Lifting Engineer or depot teams.

What We’re Looking For

  • LEEA Lifting Equipment General Diploma (or equivalent).

  • Previous experience as a Lifting Engineer - the inspection and repair of manual lifting gear (hoists, slings, shackles, beam clamps, etc.).

  • Full UK driving licence (preferably clean).

  • Valid CSCS card.

  • Comfortable with manual handling and working in varied site conditions.

  • IT-literate with good communication and customer service skills.

What’s on Offer

  • Salary: circa £40,000 (depending on experience).

  • Company van (for work use).

  • Tools provided.

  • Monday - Friday only, 7:30am–5:00pm – no weekend work.

  • 20 days holiday + bank holidays.

  • Pension scheme.

  • Long-term opportunity with a stable, well-respected independent hire group.
