About the Role

We’re working with a growing business within the plant and equipment hire and sales sector to recruit a Workshop Fitter to join their North East depot. This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive team of 12, where you'll work hands-on with plant machinery and equipment in a dynamic workshop setting.

You don’t need to be qualified – if you’re mechanically minded and eager to learn, full training will be provided. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone practical and enthusiastic, looking to build or continue a career in plant maintenance - just the right attitude and some mechanical know-how required.

What You’ll Be Doing:

As a Workshop Fitter, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out inspections, servicing, and repairs of a range of plant equipment

  • Diagnosing mechanical faults and identifying parts needed for repairs

  • Performing pre-delivery inspections and ensuring all equipment meets safety standards

  • Maintaining accurate records of completed work and equipment condition

  • Liaising with the workshop foreman and supporting site teams when needed

  • Occasionally attending customer sites for on-site repairs

  • Ensuring all work is carried out in line with health and safety procedures

  • Assisting with general workshop duties including keeping the workspace clean and tidy

What We’re Looking For:

  • Someone mechanically minded – whether that's from automotive, agricultural, plant, HGV, or even hobbyist experience

  • Full UK driving licence – essential for occasional site attendance (van provided)

  • Basic FLT experience (refresher training can be arranged)

  • A good attitude, team player mentality, and a willingness to learn

  • Reliability and punctuality are a must

What You’ll Get in Return:

  • Hourly rate of £12.50

  • Overtime paid at 1.5x, with most team members seeing at least 1 hour per day

  • 28 days holiday per annum (inclusive of bank holidays)

  • Full training and development from experienced professionals

  • Long-term career opportunity with a company that values its people

If you’re looking for a role where you can learn, earn, and grow with a business that values practical skills and strong work ethic, we’d love to hear from you.
