About the Role

We are representing a market leader within the Specialist Plant Hire sector. With a depot network across the UK our client is seeking an experienced SHEQ Manager to join their senior team. You will be reporting directly to the CEO and have responsibility for the health, safety, quality and environmental protection across all locations. You will lead the development and implementation of Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality management systems across all depots and operational sites, driving compliance, continuous improvement, and a culture of “zero harm”.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver the companies SHEQ strategy nationwide
  • Responsible for the health, safety, quality and environmental protection at all locations
  • Provide expert advice to the SMT and wider business
  • Promote SHEQ activities through monthly company webinars
  • Maintenance of certifications and accreditations
  • Responsible for maintaining and developing the working culture and practices of the business for a Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality
  • Undertake 2 full H&S audits per depot per year
  • Produce monthly reporting packs for the SMT
  • Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act and associated regulations
  • Conduct and oversee risk assessments, incident investigations and root cause analyses, ensuring that lessons learned are shared and acted upon
  • Manage safety training and competence programmes for all employees and contractors

 

Experience required

  • 5 years’ experience in a SHEQ management role in a related industry which could include construction or with a contractor
  • Good working understanding of requirements contained with ISO9001, 14001 and OHSAS18001
  • Degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or a related discipline.
  • Professional qualifications such as NEBOSH Diploma, NCRQ, or equivalent.
  • Lead Auditor qualifications in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 (or willingness to work towards these).
