About the Role

We’re supporting a long-established national plant hire business in their search for a Central Sales Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who understands the hire industry and enjoys being right at the centre of commercial activity - bids, tenders, customer engagement and supporting a busy sales team.

This isn’t a field sales role and there are no direct reports. Instead, you'll be the commercial engine room supporting senior leadership (Ops Director and Sales Director), improving quote conversion, managing customer engagement and ensuring the sales operation runs smoothly and effectively.

The Role

You’ll act as a central point of contact across the business, working closely with the Sales Director, Ops Director, Business Development Manager and the wider sales team. Typical responsibilities include:

Bids, Tenders and Compliance

  • Supporting the Directors with tender preparation, submissions and evaluation reports
  • Managing PQQs and ensuring customer portals are fully maintained and compliant
  • Coordinating customer feedback questionnaires and reporting on results

Sales and Customer Engagement

  • Staying in regular contact with new and existing customers to update them on products, performance and opportunities
  • Proactively reaching out to new and prospective customers via phone, email, video or social channels
  • Logging activity, maintaining CRM accuracy and supporting Area Sales Managers with warm leads
  • Driving quote conversion through consistent follow-up and strong communication

Marketing and Sales Support

  • Providing central marketing support, including social media activity and bespoke campaigns
  • Collaborating with the sales team and depots to create alignment, visibility and consistent customer messaging
  • Allocating existing and upcoming projects through the internal lead generation system

Who We’re Looking For

  • Someone with solid plant hire experience who genuinely enjoys the commercial side of the industry.
  • Managed bids, tenders and compliance or willing to learn
  • Naturally organised with strong administrative skills
  • Comfortable speaking with customers at all levels
  • A self-starter who can juggle priorities and keep things moving
  • Decisive, adaptable and commercially switched on

If you’ve worked in a central sales support, internal sales, sales administration or commercial coordinator role within plant hire, construction hire, or a related industry - this will feel like home.
